2026 English Department Student Colloquium
The BC English Department recognizes the excellent work, diversity and future potential of its students with its annual Student Colloquium. Currently-enrolled BC students are encouraged to submit an essay between 1500-3000 words on any topic in English and Literature. All finalists will be published in SA国际传媒视频's online journal, The Grapevine.
Requirements
- Students must be currently enrolled at SA国际传媒视频.
- Essay must be in Word format and a minimum of 1500 words; not to exceed 3000 words; AI is not permitted.
- Students may write on any topic in English or Literature.
- Must use BC email address for all correspondence.
- Submissions are due to Rae Ann Kumelos @ rae.kumelos@bakersfieldcollege.edu by Monday, April 6, 2026 by 5:00PM
The Student Colloquium
The finalists will be notified by Friday, April 17, 2026 and will present their papers to the Colloquium on Friday, April 24, from 10:00 A.M. to noon in the Norman Levan Center for the Humanities. Family and friends are invited to attend. Refreshments will be served.
Award
The final chosen essay is awarded $1000; the two runners-up are awarded $250 each. All finalists will be published in SA国际传媒视频's online journal, The Grapevine.
